    • A method is disclosed of transferring and filling a viscous material from a container into a syringe, without requiring the provision of a housing for holding both the container and the syringe in an air-tight manner, while preventing ingress of gas into the viscous material during the process of filling the syringe with the viscous material. According to this method, a plunger (22) is inserted into a container (12) that holds a viscous material (14); a first plug (160), which permits gas flow in one direction, is inserted into a syringe (20); the container (12) and the syringe (20) are coupled with each other; a rod (230) is inserted into the syringe (20) such that the rod (230) engages with the first plug (160); and the plunger (22) is pushed within the container (12), thereby extruding the viscous material (14) from the container (12) and transferring and filling the extruded viscous material (14) into the syringe (20).
