    • Apparatus (1) comprises a trough (2) with two rotatably arranged shafts (3) extending alongside each other, which shafts (3) are each provided with paddles (7) spaced apart in axial direction with an intermediate distance. The paddles (7) extend substantially in a radial plane with respect to the shafts (3), and extend in circumferential direction over at least a part of the circumference. In circumferential direction, the paddles (7) are at least partly wedge-shaped. Upon opposite rotation of the shafts (3), successive paddles (7) mesh alternately, thereby forming a gap narrowing again and again. Per shaft (3), successive paddles (7) in axial direction are staggered relative to each other in circumferential direction through an angle.

    • A blow-off cock (5; 50) for a steam vessel (1), comprising a housing (9; 51) having a supply opening and a blow-off opening, the supply opening being closable by means of a valve member (15) comprising a valve disc (16), a piston member (17) and a shank member (19) connecting the valve disc and the piston member, the piston member forming a wall of a cylindrical chamber (13) movable through displacement means (6), and a blow-off duct (3), connecting to the blow-off opening, extending substantially transverse to the cylindrical chamber. The cylindrical chamber (13) is connected to the steam vessel side of the valve disc (16) by means of an open passage (18) in the valve member (15). The passage has a mouth in the cylindrical chamber adjacent to the piston member (17) and a guarded mouth at the valve disc. The width of the passage is such that when the blow-off cock (5; 50) is opened, the pressure at the valve disc decreases more quickly thant in the cylindrical chamber, while the displacement means (6) press the valve member toward its open position independently of the pressure decrease.
