摘要： An electronic meter incorporates a TCP/IP protocol suite and an HTTP server (24) to provide two-way access to the meter incorporated into a gateway (20) serving multiple meters connected through a power line or wireless two-way network. The gateway (20) may incorporate an HTTP server (24) for accessing data from multiple meters (40) and for transmission of data to individual meters (40). Other aspects of the disclosed system include the use of a common gateway interface (26) for remote access to meter data and to set meter parameter using HTML forms in HTTP browsers; remote reading and setting of multiple meter parameters using a TCP/IP protocol suite; a TCP/IP protocol suite implemented in designated notes in a CEBus LAN (42) with remote access through TCP/IP (43) to routers and broutes and to individual meters on the LAN; and a SLIP-PPP (21) enabled gateway for remote TCP/IP access (22) through a serial interface to a single or multiple meter parameters.

摘要： An electronic meter which automatically detects the service type and voltage to which the meter is installed and which either automatically configures its own programming to the detected service is disclosed. An electronic energy meter that permits the addition of new measurements or testing capabilities without requiring factory modifications to effect such functionality changes is also disclosed. The meter includes firmware which measures the characteristics of electrical energy supplied to the meter and which generates characteristic signals reflective of the measured characteristics of the electrical energy. A processor is connected to receive and process the characteristic signals. The processing of the characteristic signals includes selecting and manipulating certain of the characteristic signals and generating characteristic information in response to the selection and generating additional characteristic information in response to the manipulation. It is preferred for the meter to include a memory having reference information stored therein. In such an embodiment, the manipulation of characteristic signals includes retrieving certain of the reference information and generating the characteristic information in response to the selected signals and the reference information.

摘要： Meters are configured using either a program update method for a meter update method. In the program update method, meters associated with a specified configuration program are identified and configured with updated parameters [512]. In the meter update method, a specified set of meters is configured with a specified set of updated configuration parameters. The meter update method enablers both time of use and other configuration parameters to be updated. Both methods enable various actions to be performed in conjunction with a meter configuration. Such actions may include, for example, recording a snapshot of current billing data, resetting billing data, and resetting demand data.
