    • A cabinet or locker is disclosed moulded in one piece substantially free from discontinuities. Moulding in a polymeric material provides this absence of discontinuity for a useable bedside locker of suitable weight and avoiding wood fungus and rust. Preferably, the cabinet or locker includes a recess, to form a cupboard, adapted to be closed by doors, the doors being detachable for cleaning purposes. It is preferred that the cabinet or locker is moulded with the absence of sharp edges or corners to improve the effectiveness of cleaning by hand with a cloth, or by steam jet. Bacterial growth may be further reduced by the incorporation of antibacterial additives in the polymeric moulding materials. Indeed it is preferred to mould the cabinet from a bacteria resistant polymeric material, such as 'Microban', which kills bacteria on contact. Conveniently, the cabinet or locker can be produced with an integrally moulded handle which, in conjunction with fitted castors or wheels, facilitates movement of the unit from one place to another. Ideally, the handle can double as a towel rail or the like.

    • A method of treating a woven fabric to produce a stretchable fabric combination which comprises applying heat and pressure to the fabric in such a manner that the yarn strands substantially across the width of the fabric are forced closer together thus imparting generally semi-permanent stretch into the fabric while simultaneously at least partially bonding thereto a synthetic interlining fabric employing a stretchable bonding agent or film. The woven fabric employed in the method of the invention will usually be of a non-synthetic textile material, for example wool or cotton, which can not normally be permanently set by heat alone. By contrast, the interlining material will normally be a synthetic material which is thermoplastic and can be heat set, such as a polyester or polyamide textile material. The bonding coating or film is preferably material which as well as bonding will impart stretch to the final combined product and it is preferred for this purpose to use a polyurethane material. The material may be coated on either the woven non-synthetic fabric or the interlining fabric or may be a film interposed between the two.

    • A brake cover (18) and shaft (24) rotate with a pedal lever (20) relative to a central section (14) of the housing (12) rotate a pedal gear (76) . The pedal gear (76) rotates a sensor gear (74) to rotate a sensor arm (46) about a sensor axis (48) . The sensor arm (46) supports sensor members (58) that move along sensor bands (50) to generate an electrical signal. As the brake cover (18) rotates with the pedal lever (20) it uncoils coil springs (84) to cause brake shoes (80) to pivot radially outward about respective posts (82) frictionally engage the interior surface (78) of the central section (14) to thereby provide a resistance or hysteresis to movement of the pedal lever (20) . One feature resides in at least two elements (74, 76) to interconnect the sensor arm (46) and the pedal arm (20) to reduce space while maintaining the requisite movement of the sensor members (58) over the sensor bands (50) and the other feature resides in spacing the braking mechanism axially from the sensor arm (46) in radially overlapping relationship to one another along the pedal axis (A).
