    • A sprocket (1) having a fitting part (7) for fitting it to a wheel and a waved part (2) where teeth to engage with a chain are formed is not only reduced in volume and weight but also correctly engaged with the chain, the sprocket position being aligned with the chain position. In order that the net volume and the net weight of the sprocket are divided substantially equally over a plate thickness center plane (17), a first raised part (9A) raised from one side of a plate in relation to the plate thickness center plane and a second raised part (9B) raised from the other side are formed on the fitting part (7). Because the top flat part (15A) of the first raised part having a fitting hole (8) is in the same plane as the bottom end face (18A) of the sprocket and engages with a flange face, the positions of the teeth and of the chain match each other. Because of the equal division on the plate thickness center plane, no planar strain or the like occurs during the quenching process. Furthermore, the sprocket can be reduced in weight because the plate thickness of the fitting part and the wave-formed part is small.
