摘要： Illumination apparatus for use in localized illumination applications, such as an automobile dashboard. The apparatus includes a light emitting diode (16) mounted on a metallized circuit board (10); a TIR lens (25) mounted over the light emitting diode (16) to collect light emitted from the light emitting diode (16) and to direct the light in a single direction; and a light pipe (30) disposed over the light emitting diode (16) and TIR lens (25). The light pipe (30) has walls extending from the circuit board (10) to a plane above the circuit board such that directed light from the TIR lens (25) is channeled through the light pipe (30) to the plane. The apparatus can also include a cover (40) disposed in the plane over the light pipe (30). The cover (40) may be integrally molded to the light pipe (30) and have an icon (41) configured therein, such that the icon (41) is illuminated by the light from the light emitting diode (16). A lens (50) may also be placed over the cover (33) of the light pipe (30) to create a focused image of the icon (41), thereby maximizing the light emitted by the light emitting diode (16) at the focused image.
