摘要： Described is a method of making a laminated paint roller wherein a perforated strip of thermoplastic material is advanced, the perforated strip having holes there-through. A lubricant is applied to the inner surface of the advancing perforated strip of thermoplastic material. The lubricated, perforated strip (23) of thermoplastic material is helically wound around a cooled mandrel (21) so as to form a helically wound strip (23) wherein the inner surface of the perforated strip faces the cooled mandrel (21) and the outer surface of the perforated strip faces away from the cooled mandrel. The wound perforated strip is advanced along the cooled mandrel. A layer of adhesive (25) is applied onto an outer surface of the wound perforated strip. A strip of composite cover material (17) is helically wrapped about the wound strip and over the layer of adhesive, the outer surface of the composite cover (17) material comprising a pile fabric (2), and the inner surface of the composite cover material comprising thermoplastic. A compressive force (28,28a,28b) is applied upon the composite cover material to urge the composite cover material, the layer of adhesive and strip of thermoplastic material together against the cooled mandrel, thereby laminating the inner surface of the composite cover material to the outer surface of the strip. A method of making a composite cover material is also disclosed.

摘要： A reusable multi-strip laminate paint roller and method for manufacturing the same. The method comprising steps of advancing a first strip of polypropylene material about a mandrel (21); advancing a second strip of polypropylene about a mandrel in offset relation to the first strip (22); advancing a cover about the second strip of polypropylene (23); providing a first adhesive layer (preferably a liquefied polypropylene) between the first and second strips of polypropylene (6); providing a second adhesive layer between the second strip of polypropylene and the cover (6); and applying a compressing force upon the cover urging the cover toward the second strip and simultaneously urging the second strip toward the first strip (2, 23) thereby creating the continuous laminated paint roller. After forming of the continuous paint roller it is moved towards a cutter by a helical drive belt system (2). The continuously formed roller is then prefeably cut into lengths for movement to a finishing station, and then cut into finished sizepaint rollers.

摘要： The reusable paint roller (50) produced in accordance with the invention is comprised of a core formed from a strip of thermoplastic material (24, 26, 28). The thermoplastic material is formed into a core by helically winding it about a stationary mandrel (14). A layer of adhesive is then applied to the outer surface of the core whereupon a cover is bonded thereto. In a first embodiment, the core is formed by winding a plurality of the thermoplastic strips (24, 26, 28) about the mandrel. In a second embodiment the core is formed by applying liquefied thermoplastic material to a driven belt which transfers the thermoplastic material to the mandrel. In yet another embodiment, the paint roller is made by bonding, in a single step, a fabric cover strip to a wound strip wrapped about the mandrel.

摘要： Described is a method of making a laminated paint roller wherein a perforated strip of thermoplastic material is advanced, the perforated strip having holes there-through. A lubricant is applied to the inner surface of the advancing perforated strip of thermoplastic material. The lubricated, perforated strip of thermoplastic material is helically wound around a cooled mandrel so as to form a helically wound strip wherein the inner surface of the perforated strip faces the cooled mandrel and the outer surface of the perforated strip faces away from the cooled mandrel. The wound perforated strip is advanced along the cooled mandrel. A layer of adhesive is applied onto an outer surface of the wound perforated strip. A strip of composite cover material is helically wrapped about the wound strip and over the layer of adhesive, the outer surface of the composite cover material comprising a pile fabric, and the inner surface of the composite cover material comprising thermoplastic. A compressive force is applied upon the composite cover material to urge the composite cover material, the layer of adhesive and strip of thermoplastic material together against the cooled mandrel, thereby laminating the inner surface of the composite cover material to the outer surface of the strip. A method of making a composite cover material is also disclosed.
