    • The present invention provides a mechanism (4) for tilting and stabilisation of an external rear-view mirror of an automotive vehicle. The mirror comprises a mirror plate (1), a mechanism of adjustment of the position of the mirror plate (1), a casing (2), and a base (3) on which the casing (2) is mounted and which can be mounted on a side of the automotive vehicle. The mechanism (4) comprises means (6) of articulation of the casing (2) and a device (10) of stabilization of the casing (2) in the positions of use and tilted. The device (10) comprises a resilient flange (30) projected from the face of the base (3) directed to the extremity of the position of the casing (2), and an element of structure (20) provided in the extremity of the casing (2) directed to the base (3). The flange (30) and element (20) have surfaces (21,31) locked by interference and abutment surfaces (22,33). The mechanism (4) may be provided with one or more positioning members (40,41) selected to ensure the pressure of locking between the flange (30) and the element (20).

    • A rear view mirror of the external or internal type is formed substantially by a mirror (1) which provides the rear view and an adhesive means (2) applied to the rear face (1') of the mirror (1). Preferably, a base plate (3), is cemented to the mirror (1) by the adhesive means (2), the mirror (1) and the base plate being part of a manually or electrically driven moving mechanism (4) of the rear view mirror. The adhesive means (2) may also constitute a shatterproofing device for the mirror. The rear view mirror also includes a housing (5) and a base (6) extending from the housing (5) to a vehicle body (7). The adhesive means (2) cements the mirror (1) to the base plate (3) or forms a shatterproofing device for the mirror (1). Preferably, the adhesive is of the hot-melt type applied by a continuous application method formed, preferably, by applying cylinders.
