摘要： A display comprising at least two cavity structures 40 substantially juxtaposed, the interiors of the cavity structures 40 being respectively coloured, at least in part, with a test colour and a reference colour, wherein the test colour is related to the reference colour in that it has a substantially similar or the same hue characteristic, but a different lightness characteristic. The cavity structures 40 may be boxes, paint cans, miniature rooms or full-sized rooms. The interior of the cavity structures 40 may be viewed through apertures 46 and may be illuminated by lamps 27. The two cavity structures 40 preferably have the same size and configuration and may have objects inside of them arranged in the same manner. The interiors of the cavity structures 40 may be painted or be fitted with coloured inserts to display the test and reference colours. The test and reference colours may have the same or similar chroma characteristics and the reference colour may be selected from a colour-difference algorithm, possibly a CIE algorithm in dependence on the characteristics of the test colour, using higher weighting values for hue and chroma values. A second invention defines a test determining viewer perception of cavity size using the display, with the lighter test colour supposedly making the cavity look bigger.

摘要： Noise reduction in compressors used in refrigeration systems is achieved by introducing between 0.01% and 10% by weight of a phosphate ester additive to the compressor lubricant. The phosphate ester additive is of formula (I) wherein each R is independently alkyl, aryl or ring-substituted aryl. Preferred phosphate ester additives are ring-substituted aryl esters. Noise level reductions of at least 1dB at a frequency between 0 and 20KHz are achieved.

摘要： A method for coarsening fine particles (eg below 300µm) plaster of Paris (calcium sulphate hemihydrate) by converting the particles into an elongated compacted form (9) and then subjecting the form to a breaking force (preferably a mechanical breaking force such as a crushing, hammering or cutting force) whereupon the form breaks into angular agglomerates. Also coarsened plaster of Paris comprising angular agglomerates of compacted fine particles of the plaster where preferably the agglomerates have a particle size of from 0.5 to 5mm. The compaction of the powder enables it to pour easily and with minimal dust whilst remaining capable of a quick manual dispersion in water.

摘要： A dispersion contains particles of metal oxide dispersed in a siloxane fluid and a dispersing agent which is a polysiloxane wherein (i) the polysiloxane contains in the range from 0.1 to 3 carboxyl groups, and (ii) the ratio of non-carboxyl group containing monomer units to carboxyl group containing monomer units in the polysiloxane is in the range from 40 to 150:1. The dispersion is particularly suitable for use as an ingredient in sunscreening cosmetics.
