A motor (14) is operatively coupled to a jaw assembly and to the housing, which advantageously further includes a multi-positional portion partially defining the covered jar receiving area. Upon motor activation, the upper (16) and lower (18) jaw assemblies apply equal and opposite torques to the covered jar to automatically loosen its lid.
