The invention also concerns a cutting or sawing machine comprising a machine body and a tool carrier (20) wherein at least one tool unit of the described type is rotatably mounted in the tool carrier.

    • The invention concerns a cutting or sawing machine comprising a machine body (2); a tool assembly comprising at least one disk shaped, rotatable tool (3, 3') having a first side (3a), a second side (3b), and a peripheral edge portion (54)which is the working part of the tool, and at least one rotatable driving member (52, 52') which has a centre of rotation and is coaxial with the tool and provided on the first side of the tool; a power transmission from a power source for rotation of the tool via said driving member; and a tool carrier (20) having a rear end which is connected to the machine body and a front end in which said at least one tool is rotatably mounted. The machine is characterised in that that that side of the peripheral edge portion (54) which is part of said second side (3b) of the tool defines a plane which forms a limit of the, in the axial direction, maximally projecting part of the tool assembly, that the entire machine body is provided at a distance from the tool assembly with reference to the radial direction of the tool assembly, and that the tool carrier, which is elongated, extends from the machine body over said distance to at least said centre of rotation. The invention also relates to a method for cutting or sawing by means of the machine.
