    • The invention concerns a vibration absorber intended to be disposed between two devices.
      The absorber is of the type comprising a casing (1) solid with one of the said devices, two bell-shaped membranes (2, 3) of a resiliently deformable material, mounted in coaxial relationship and axially aligned inside the casing, with the tops thereof facing each other, and connected through their bases to the said casing, and a rod (7) intended to be solid with the other device, coaxially passing through the said membranes, and connected to the membranes so that a relative motion of the rod with respect to the casing provokes a resilient deformation of at least one membrane and is characterized in that both membranes (2, 3) are solid with the rod (7) at their tops (4) and in that their radially outer peripheral surfaces delimit a tight chamber (14) inside the casing (1) of a constant volume and which is filled with a liquid.
      The invention is useful in the cases where a weak overtension is desired.

    • Apparatus for removing and securing a plug-in electronic unit or the like to or from an avionics tray comprises a threaded spindle carrying a transverse pin at one end thereof and having an arrangement of three concentric sleeves located about the spindle. Stop members are provided to limit the movement of the sleeves in both axial directions along the threaded spindle. A rotatable grip is fitted about the innermost of the three concentric sleeves at that end of the sleeve remote from the transverse pin. A ring member is positioned about the middle of the three sleeves and cooperates with an extended flange of the latter to define an annular recess which contains a resilient element. A torque- limiting arrangement is provided between the rotatable grip and a cooperating surface portion of the middle of the three sleeves. The outermost sleeve has, at its end closest to the transverse pin, a radial flange which together with said ring member defines an annular recess capable of receiving a hook forming part of the attachment mechanism of an electronic unit. In use, rotation of the rotatable grip allows an electronic unit to be inserted into an avionics tray with a predetermined degree of force, this being adjusted via the torque limiting arrangement. Rotation of the rotatable grip in the opposite sense effects removal of the electronic unit from the avionics tray.

    • An overload protection device adapted to be secured between a robot arm and a tool, comprises a floating piston (20) within a cylinder (18). Hall effect sensors are spaced around the cylinder wall and mating magnets are spaced around the piston wall. The cylinder is pressurized to axially align the piston with the cylinder and to position each magnet in alignment with a sensor. When an overload occurs involving either the robot arm or the tool, the magnets are moved relative to the sensors causing the sensors to signal for depres­surization of the cylinder. An electronic system responsive to the Hall effect sensor signals lights an "overload" LED and triggers a timer circuit which generates a timing pulse of fixed duration. During the duration of the timing pulse, the robot is de-energized. A red LED is illuminated indicating the robot system is not ready to be operated. Also, a solenoid valve is energized, cutting off the pressure to the cylinder.
