摘要： A process for producing a small-sized, lipid-based cochleate is described. Cochleates are derived from liposomes which are suspended in an aqueous two-phase polymer solution, enabling the differential partitioning of polar molecule based-structures by phase separation. The liposome-containing two-phase polymer solution, treated with positively charged molecules such as Ca?2+ or Zn2+¿, forms a cochleate precipitate of a particle size less than one micron. The process may be used to produce cochleates containing biologically relevant molecules. Small-sized cochleates may be administered orally or through the mucosa to obtain an effective method of treatment.

摘要： The invention relates to an oil-in-water emulsion comprising 0.01-50 % by weight of the total preparation, preferably 0.1-10 %, of a galactolipid material as an emulsifier. The galactolipid material consists of at least 50 % digalactosyldiacylglycerols, the remainder being other polar lipids. The said emulsion is suitable as a carrier for one or more active substances in a pharmaceutical composition, but also in nutritional, cosmetical, food and agricultural products.

摘要： A process for detecting an analyte which process comprises (a) contacting a sample suspected of containing said analyte with a containment means comprising a barrier which separates signal generating reagents from said sample, in the presence of an element which interacts specifically with said analyte, under conditions whereby interaction between the analyte and the said element results in activation of the signal generating reagents within the containment means on the side of the barrier opposite to the sample, and (b) detecting any signal generated and retained within the containment means from the sample side of the barrier. The process of the invention provides for sensitive detection of very small numbers of analyte materials using measurement techniques which include counting methods such as flow cytometry.

摘要： A reagent for immunoagglutination to be used for determining the quantity of an antibody or antigen with a high sensitivity by causing the agglutination due to the antigen-antibody reaction of a liposomal agglutination reagent comprising an antibody or antigen immobilized onto the surface of a liposome as the support through covalent bonds and determining the quantity of the agglutination with the short wavelength of a light by which a turbidity change caused by the agglutination can be intensely observed. The liposome encloses therein a water-soluble high-molecular compound or a gelled compound, and the enclosed compound serves to increase the turbidity change caused by the agglutination caused by the antigen-antibody reaction.

摘要： It is possible to radiosensitize tumor cells by administration of compositions containing the Human antisense c-raf-1 oligodeoxyribonucleotide (ODN/oligo) sequence: 5'-GTGCTCCATTGATGC-3' (seq. #1) wherein only the end bases are phosphorylated is a preferred embodiment. Antisense sequences of up to 40 bases which contain this sequence may be used in accordance with the teachings of this disclosure. Compositions comprising a cationic liposome of dimethyldioctadecyl ammonium bromide, phosphatidylcholine and cholesterol may be used as a carrier system. The liposomes provide a new carrier system that is particularly useful for administration of sequences for therapy.

摘要： A particularly efficient design for a nonbibulous lateral flow one step assay for an analyte in a biological sample is disclosed. In the improved device of the invention, three zones which are in nonbibulous lateral flow contact are employed: a sample receiving zone, a labeling zone, and a capture zone. The sample containing analyte is carried through the labeling zone and interacts with an assay label comprising visible moieties, preferably particles, which are coupled to specific binding reagent for analyte or to a competitor with analyte for a capture reagent. The flow continues into the capture zone where the visible moieties to which analyte or competitor are coupled are captured. Excess fluid is absorbed into an absorbent zone in contact with the capture zone. A positive result is obtained by visualizing the visible moieties in the capture zone. An additional improvement comprises obtaining the nonbibulous lateral flow by converting a bibulous support to a nonbibulous support through coating with a blocking agent, such as methylated BSA. Control label comprising visible moieties (preferably, visually distinguishable from those of the assay label) may also be included in the labeling zone and captured in a separate control portion of the capture zone to verify that the flow of liquid is as expected.
