At least one approximation image is created of the image at one or multiple scales. Translation difference images are created by pixel-wise subtracting the values of an approximation image at scale s and the values of a translated version of the approximation image. A non-linear modification is applied to the values of the translation difference image(s) and at least one enhanced center difference image at a specific scale is computed by combining the modified translation difference images at that scale or a smaller scale with weights w i,j . An enhanced image is computed by applying a reconstruction algorithm to the enhanced center difference images. The non-linear modification of the values of the translation difference images is steered by the values of an orientation map which comprises for each pixel a local direction of interest.
In addition or alternatively, at least one enhanced center difference image is computed by anisotropic weighing of the enhanced translation differences with weights steered by the orientation map.

摘要： One embodiment of the present invention provides a system that generates a set of color toning curves which can be used for color toning (or casting) a monochrome or color image. During operation, the system receives a first set of color toning parameters for shadow regions, a second set for highlight regions, and an invariance property which needs to be maintained during color toning. The color toning parameters specify the color be applied to shadows and highlights. The system computes a set of color toning curve values and a set of color toning curve slopes using the first set of color toning parameters, the second set of color toning parameters, and the invariance property. The system generates the set of color toning curves. An important aspect of the invention is it can generate color toning curves simply based on user specified color tones for shadow and highlight regions.

摘要： A graphics system comprises pixel calculation units and a sample buffer which stores a two-dimensional field of samples. Each pixel calculation unit selects positions in the two-dimensional field at which pixel values (e.g. red, green, blue) are computed. The pixel computation positions are selected to compensate for image distortions introduced by a display device and/or display surface. Non-uniformities in a viewer's perceived intensity distribution from a display surface (e.g. hot spots, overlap brightness) are corrected by appropriately scaling pixel values prior to transmission to display devices. Two or more sets of pixel calculation units driving two or more display devices adjust their respective pixel computation centers to align the edges of two or more displayed images. Physical barriers prevent light spillage at the interface between any two of the display images. Separate pixel computation positions may be used for distinct colors to compensate for color distortions.
