摘要： A method of making a polypropylene textured release sheet for use in texturing decorative laminates, includes providing the polypropylene release sheet with texturing during the initial making of the sheet, while the polypropylene is still above its softening temperature. A decorative laminate lay-up includes a plurality of thermosetting resin impregnated layers having a top layer, with the textured polypropylene release sheet oriented adjacent the top layer. A method of forming a textured decorative laminate includes application of heat and pressure to the lay-up sufficient to form a textured decorative laminate.

The method is performed by providing a solid surface material layer, providing an opaque layer, layering the solid surface material layer and the opaque layer, and applying pressure to the solid surface material layer and the opaque layer to bond the solid surface material layer to the opaque layer and form a solid surface laminate. A solid surface laminate manufactured in accordance with the method described above is also disclosed.

摘要： A coupling assembly securely attaching moldings to a support surface. The coupling assembly includes a track member having first and second upwardly extending flanges defining a channel. The coupling assembly also includes a connecting member shaped and dimensioned for secure attachment within the channel defined by the upwardly extending flanges. The connecting member includes first and second expansion members which move outwardly as the connecting member is forced downwardly within the channel to securely couple the connecting member within the track member and to force the first and second upwardly extending flanges outwardly into engagement with the molding such that the molding is securely coupled to the track member. A connecting member used in conjunction with the coupling assembly and a multi-component article including the present coupling assembly are also disclosed.

摘要： A system and a method for coating two sides of a laminate material is disclosed in which one side of the laminate material is coated with one substance and the second side is coated with a similar or different substance. Reverse roll coating may be used to coat the two surfaces of the sheet of laminate material. The method described is particularly suited for applying a substance providing balancing characteristics desirable in the end product to one side of the laminate material and applying a substance providing other characteristics desirable in the end product to the other side of the laminate material. For example, a balancing substance may be applied on one side of a kraft paper sheet and a substance providing structural bonding applied to the other side, thereby eliminating the need to use a discrete balancing sheet in a laminate. The kraft sheet thus coated may be used to form a laminate panel that may be applied on an exterior wall, an interior wall, siding, a roof top, a facade boarding, a counter top, a table top or a work top.

The panel includes a waterproof layer that substantially prevents the penetration of moisture and may be colored with any color to substantially mask inconsistencies or non-homogeneity on the surface of the laminate panel. Coloring is specially helpful to mask stress whitening caused during manufacturing or installation of the laminate panels. Although a white or opacifying colorant is preferred, any colorant may be used for coloration. A method for producing such laminates is also described.
