摘要： The present invention is to allow display based on the setting positions of devices in selection of a desired device to be used, and facilitate selection considering the setting positions of the devices. The present invention can also display equipments so as to allow discrimination between an equipment included in an image processing apparatus and an equipment connected on a communication line. Equipments in a network environment are placed on the first floor (1F), the second floor (2F), and the third floor (3F) in a building and connected through a network (LAN 1300). For example, a computer (1310) collects device information including status information and setting position information from usable input/output devices. For example, status information representing "BUSY" and setting position information representing "3F-B block" are transferred from a virtual optical scanner (1302). The computer (1310) displays the connected input/output devices together with the setting position information obtained from the devices. An image processing apparatus (100) has various input/output devices including a reader unit (1), a printer unit (2), and an image input/output control unit (3). In addition, various input/output equipments (two optical scanner devices (1302, 1303) and three facsimile transmission/reception devices (1305, 1306, 1307)) are connected to the image processing apparatus (100) through a LAN interface unit (9) and the LAN (1300). A CPU (123) of a core unit (10) manages the input/output equipments to determine whether they are connected through the network. When a desired input/output equipment is to be selected, whether the input/output equipments are connected through the network is explicitly indicated.

摘要： A system and method for controlling facsimile communications is disclosed. A facsimile machine contains a touch-sensitive display that displays a plurality of display screens containing step-by step instructions allowing a user to use complex facsimile functions. The facsimile machine displays a plurality of menus on the touch-sensitive display, and the user can select the desired option by touching the touch-sensitive display in the location corresponding to the desired option. The touch-sensitive display also displays a prompt that provides the user with instructions related to the particular screen display. The predetermined input locations on the touch-sensitive display are designed to appear like buttons and are labeled to correspond to their function. A button appears to be depressed when the user touches it. The facsimile machine indicates the selection of a button by displaying the button in a depressed position when the user touches the touch-sensitive display, and the facsimile machine performs the function associated with the button when the user removes his finger from the touch-sensitive display. This allows the user to slide his finger to a different button and perform a different function if so desired. An optional hardware keypad with a plurality of buttons, some of which correspond to buttons on the touch-sensitive display, can be used to enter commands into the facsimile machine.

摘要： A multi-purpose public facsimile transmission terminal otherwise known as a public fax terminal, employs a stand alone kiosk with a touch activated computer display color monitor presentation, advising the user of the operational steps to take in the use of the machine. The user initiates operation by inserting a credit card in a card reader and following the instructions presented on the monitor. A scanner mounted in the kiosk reads a document to be faxed and stores the image in the memory of a computer. Faxed transmissions are received and sent over telephone lines by a fax modem in the computer. Copies of faxed documents are provided by a plain paper laser printer, which also has the capability of providing copies of any scanned documents or any documents in the computer memory. The computer memory presents video advertisements and has stored business and message forms which can be retrieved and used as desired. An interface connection open to the exterior of the terminal connects to a computer such as a laptop computer, provided by the user to download and fax information in the memory of the laptop computer. The terminal may also be used to retrieve documents from a remote data base system.

The messages can be displayed on a User Interface, such as a video monitor, and additionally printed on a break page of the print job. 摘要： In the present invention, a color original such as a color reversal film and the like which may be different size (for example, the Brownie, 4" × 5", 35mm) is fitted or stored in the original cassette mounted on the cassette base. The original is read to obtain the whole image data by a transmission type or a reflection type image sensor without catching any flare, and an auxiliary scanning is done sequentially on lines of the original, reading whole surface thereof, so as to output directly the mask plates of C,M,Y and black (K). Because of these procedure described above the operation to produce the mask plates is easily done at a high speed by even an unskilled operator. The operation for scanning the original image comprises two steps of scnning (pre-scanning) the original image in rough and scanning (main scanning) it in detail. The original image is displayed in accordance with data of the pre-scanning and the data of the pre-scanning is stored in a memory. On the basis of the stored data, the condition parameters for the image processing are determined automatically (or manually) and the image output is carried out at a high speed and high efficiency by judging the relationship which is provided by the condition parameters, between the original and the photosensitive material so as to make remarkable improvement in producing the printing mask plates.
