    • A voltage regulator including at least one coupled inductor including a first winding and a second winding each having a polarity. The first winding and the second winding connected in series to form a common node such that the first winding and the second winding have the same polarity. The first winding and the second winding having a coefficient of coupling approximately equal to one. A conduction switch having an on-state and an off-state, to controllably conduct an input voltage to the at least one coupled inductor at a switching frequency. A freewheeling switch having an on-state and an off-state, in communication with the common node of the at least one coupled inductor to provide a path for current when the conduction switch is in the off-state. An output capacitor in communication with the at least one coupled inductor to filter the output voltage.

    • Disclosed is a power supply device comprising a power supplying part (10) that supplies power; a voltage detecting part (30) that detects the level of voltage of the power supplied from the power supplying part (10) using at least one resistor (R1-R4); a switching converting part (20) that switches on/off to allow the power supplying part (10) to output power having a constant level of voltage based on the level of voltage detected by the voltage detecting part (30); and a constant voltage generating part (40) that receives power applied to the at least one resistor (R1-R4), drops a voltage of the received power by a preset normal voltage level, and supplies the dropped voltage to the switching converting part (20), when the level of voltage of the power supplied from the power supplying part (10) gradually increases. With this configuration, a circuit can be protected even when an overvoltage occurs due to an erroneous operation of the voltage detecting part (30) that detects an output voltage.
