    • A graphical user interface (1) for browsing a list of visual elements (n-2, n-1, n, n+1, n+2) is configured to display consecutive visual elements of the list by displaying one of the consecutive visual elements, selected as focus element (n), in a focus area (20) of the graphical user interface (1), and display the consecutive visual elements (n-2, n-1, n+1, n+2), preceding or following the focus element (n) in the list, as non-focus elements outside the focus area (20) at display positions arranged along two or more presentation lines (l1, l2, l3) running through the focus area (20). The display positions are representative of a visual element's position in the list with respect to the focus element (n). When the focus is moved, a different visual element (n-1, n+1) is displayed in the focus area (20) and the remaining visual elements in the list are displayed with rearranged display positions.

    • For ordering a product or service at a point of service (20), a customer's personal mobile communication terminal (1) receives a set of product or service parameters from a local processing unit (2) of the point of service (20). At least some of the product or service parameters are transmitted from the mobile communication terminal (1) to a remote processing centre (3). In response, the mobile communication terminal (1) receives personal customer preference values for the product or service parameters. For placing a personalized order for a product or service at the point of service (20), the personal customer preference values are transmitted from the mobile communication terminal (1) to the local processing unit (2). Retrieving personal customer preference values from the remote processing centre (3) makes it possible to personalize efficiently an order, while keeping customer preference data secret from the point of service (20).
