    • A thermal recording sheet comprising, in order:

      (a) a substrate;

      (wherein R' is a C₁₈ to C₃₅group), -SO₂-, -SO₃-, or -SO₂NH-.

    • In thermally responsive record material using a colour forming system of chromogenic and acidic colour developiong materials the inclusion of certain metal aralkyl or aralkenyl carboxylates gives improved oil resistance. In particular the metal carboxylates are of the formula (I):


      where R 3 is -CH = CH-; -CR 4 = CH-; -CR 5 = CH-; -(CH2)4-; -(CH 2 ) 3 - or -CH 2 -CH = CH-; where R4 is an alkyl group and R 5 is an aryl group;
      each R 1 is independently a hydrogen or halogen atom or an alkyl, alkoxy or nitro group;
      m is 1 to 5, preferably 1 to 3;
