In some embodiment, the method includes: receiving, at a backup gateway server, a message transmitted from a client, the message comprising a network resource previously allocated to the client by the gateway server that failed; determining whether the network resource is free; and transmitting, from the backup gateway server to the client, an acknowledgment indicating that the client may continue using the network resource in response to a determination that the network resource is free.

摘要： Methods, systems, and computer program instructions for providing location-independent packet routing and secure access in a wireless networking environment, enabling client devices to travel seamlessly within the environment. Each client device (330) uses a constant address. An address translation process that is transparent to the client (330) and server (300) is automatically performed as the device roams through the environment, enabling efficient client migration from one supporting access point to another. Packets sent to and from a client device pass through a Foreign Addess Masquerader, or 'FAM' (340). The device's outbound packets (350a) are forwarded (350b) by the FAM to the destination server (300). Inbound packets from the server are sent (360a) to the device's Home Address Masquerader, or 'HAM' (310), and are then forwarded (360b) to the FAM, which sends them (360c) to the device. A roaming coordinator (320) enables HAM and FAM connectivity and discovery, and connection migration.

摘要： A migration communication control device constructed to control a continuous communication between a mobile node and a partner node unaffected the mobile node's migration. The migration communication control device comprises a first migration control unit, a second migration control unit on the mobile node, and a third migration control unit on the partner node. The first migration control unit comprises a packet transfer unit and an address post unit. The packet transfer unit receives a packet which was destined for an outdated address of the mobile node, generates a conversion packet which holds an updated address instead of the outdated address, and then transmits the conversion packet, while an address post unit transmits an address post message which indicates the updated address to the third migration control unit. The second migration control unit comprises a migration post unit and a packet resumption unit. The migration post unit transmits to the first migration control unit a migration post message which indicates the updated address when the mobile node migrates to another network while a packet resumption unit receives the conversion packet from both the first migration control unit and the third migration control unit and resumes an original packet from the conversion packet. The third migration control unit comprises a packet conversion unit which converts a destination address of a packet into the updated address, then transmits it to the mobile node.

摘要： A network address translation gateway (20) provides normal network translation for IP datagrams traveling from a local area network (10) using local IP addresses to an external network (30), but suspends source service address (port) translation when the port is reserved for a specific protocol, such as the ISAKMP 'handshaking' protocol that is part of the IPSec protocol model (FIGs. 2 and 3). ISAKMP exchanges require both source and target computers to use the same service address (port). By providing a network interface that does not translate the source service address (port), this gateway enables the initiation and maintenance of secure, encrypted transmissions using IPSec protocol between a local area network using local IP addresses and servers on the internet.
