摘要： A thin film surface-mount fuse (58) having two material subassemblies. The first subassembly includes a fusible link (42), its supporting substrate (13) and terminal pads (34, 36). The second subassembly includes a protective layer (56) which overlies the fusible link (42) so as to provide protection from impacts and oxidation. The protective layer (56) is preferably made of a polymeric material. The most preferred polymeric material is a polyurethane gel or paste. In addition, the most preferred supporting substrate is an FR-4 epoxy or a polyimide.

摘要： A card-type terminal (10), for use in cooperation with a socket (50), comprises an insulation board (20) provided with grooves (22b) on its first and second faces. Electrical conductors (21) are provided in the grooves (22b) and extend on the first and second faces, bending round a first end of the board (20). A cover (40) protecting a second end of the board (20), distal from the first, includes end portions of the electrical conductors (21) provided on each of the faces. When the card-type terminal (10) is inserted into the socket (50) by its protective cover side, the electrical terminals (52) of the socket (50) first ride on the cover (40), then slide down onto the electrical conductors (21) of the card-type terminal (10), thereby avoiding the peeling-off of the electrical conductors (21). The card-type terminal (10) may comprise a second cover (22c) between the first and second ends of the board (20) and a cap (30) at the first end. Preferably, the electrical conductors (21) are fusible cut-out elements.

摘要： The present invention relates to an electric protective circuit comprising an electric fuse, including a solder (3), and an electric resistance loop (10) connected in series with the fuse (1), the fuse and loop being mounted on a substrate (11). The solder (3) will melt at elevated temperatures caused by heating of the substrate (11), and is surrounded by a material (8) which protects the solder (3) against the oxidizing effect of the surrounding air, and is applied in a region (9) surrounding the solder (3) and delimited by barrier walls (7), therewith enabling the solder (3) to contract onto the connecting terminals (4a, 4b) when it melts, therewith breaking the current path. The material (8) is temperature-stable in a solid state at normal fuse operating temperatures. The resistance loop (10) includes current-conducting paths (12) mutually connected with bridging elements (13), whose electrical resistance is much lower than the electrical resistance of the current-conducting paths (12), and trimming elements (14) for adjusting the resistance of the loop.

摘要： This film resistor is formed of an alloy whose principal components are nickel and phosphorus. On the surface of an electrically insulating base made of ceramic or the like, a conductor is provided by etching, activating, and electroless plating in that order. Then an alloy film whose principal components are nickel and phosphorus is formed not by electroless plating, but by electroplating. By adapting electroplating, it is possible to make the alloy film thinner in the central part of the surface of the insulating base than the parts of the edges. If an overcurrent is applied, fusing starts preferably at this thin part.

摘要： A high pressure discharge lamp includes a resistive fuse (30) for overcurrent protection of its associated ballast, which fuse is connected electrically in series with the discharge vessel (1) of the lamp and continuously dissipates power during lamp operation. The resistive fuse is heated by passage of the operating current through the discharge vessel (1) during lamp operation to a temperature substantially controlled by the operating current. In response to an increase in the operating current to a predetermined overcurrent, the resistive fuse (30) reaches a temperature such that it breaks and disconnects the discharge vessel (1) from its source of electric potential within a predetermined time period. The fuse (30) passes short-term high starting currents and does not disconnect the discharge vessel(1) during each lamp start-up at least until the operating current reaches the predetermined over-current during lamp life.
