摘要： Optical fiber ribbon having an optical fiber with a radiation curable internal coating and a radiation curable colored coating disposed to surround the internal coating, and a radiation curable matrix material surrounding one or more of the optical fibers to form a ribbon, in which: the colored coating has a degree of adhesion to the inner coating which is higher than the degree of adhesion to the matrix material; and the optical fiber in the optical fiber ribbon shows, upon aging of the ribbon for at least two weeks in water at 60° C., an increase in the attenuation of the transmitted signal at 1550 nm of less than 0.05 db/km with respect to the attenuation of the assembled optical fiber measured before aging.

摘要： Coating compositions based on nonlinear, low molecular weight, polyester-based polyols having low viscosity and high solids content made by reacting a branched, polyhydric alcohol having at least three hydroxyl groups, such as trimethylolpropane; a glycol or diol; and a compound selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic or aromatic dicarboxylic acid, C1-C6 alkyl ester, anhydride, diacid halide, or mixtures thereof. The nonlinear, polyester-based polyols are quite effective in maintaining a high solids content while lowering viscosity when blended with other coating resins, such as acrylic resins, making the coating resins more effective in cured coatings by improving flexibility, impact resistance and hardness without adversely affecting appearance, solvent resistance, and/or accelerated weathering. This invention also relates to the process of coating a substrate with these coating compositions.

摘要： A curable film-forming composition which is resistant to acid etching is provided. The curable film-forming composition comprises: A) a polymer prepared from the following ingredients: 1) an ethylenically unsaturated, beta-hydroxy ester functional monomer; 2) an ethylenically unsaturated, hydroxyalkyl functional monomer; 3) a vinyl aromatic compound; and 4) an alkyl ester of acrylic or methacrylic acid having 1 to 30 carbon atoms in the alkyl group; and B) an etherified aminoplast cross-linking agent. A multi-component composite coating composition is also provided, comprising a base coat deposited from a pigmented film-forming composition and a transparent top coat applied over the base coat in which the transparent coat, or clear coat, is deposited from the curable film-forming composition described above.
