摘要： This invention provides an improved compact fine wire incandescent lamp filament and method for making the same. The filament has a primary mandrel ratio in the range of about 1.40 to about 4.00 and a secondary mandrel ratio which is greater than or equal to the primary mandrel ratio. The length between supports is kept less than or equal to 20 times the secondary diameter. The improved filament design exhibits an increase in compactness and retains or increases structural rigidity while exhibiting minimal sag when the filament is incorporated into an incandescent lamp of the tungsten halogen type variety. The compact coiling method is particularly useful in designing compact filaments for high voltage applications where it is desirable to eliminate the use of rectifying means to lower the effective voltage across the filament.

摘要： A method is disclosed for producing a high hardness refractory metal part, the method comprising hot isostatic pressing a refractory metal part having a density greater than about 98% of the theoretical density in the presence of a pressurizing gas having an atomic size great enough to strain the lattice of the refractory metal at a pressure to exceed the yield strength of the metal to result in the densification of the part to a density of greater than about 98% of the theoretical density. The part is then rapidly cooled. The resulting part has a hardness approaching the hardness of mechanically worked material.

摘要： Alloys of a metal from the same group of the Periodic Table as iron and one or more easily oxidizable metals can be formed by forming an aqueous solution of the iron group metal, forming solids containing the metals from the solution, reducing the solids to a metallic powder, converting the metallic powder to metallic alloy spherical powders, agglomeration the spherical powder with one or more easily oxidizable metals such as Aluminium in a non-oxidizing atmosphere, thereafter the agglomerates are subjected to a sufficient temperature under non-oxidizing conditions to form an alloy. Alternatively, the easily oxidizable metals can be agglomerated with the solids containing the iron group metal prior to converting the agglomerates to a spherical alloy powder. The process provides spherical metallic powder particles which have a uniform distribution of constituents.
