    • An ink cartridge for storing ink includes a thermal ink-jet head provided with a heating portion (H2107) that generates thermal energy for discharging the ink. The heating portion (H2107) has, on its surface in contact with the ink, a protective layer (H2106) containing at least one of a silicon oxide, a silicon nitride, and a silicon carbide. The ink contains a substance that dissolves the protective layer (H2106) and a compound represented by the following formula (1), and the content X (% by mass) of the compound of the formula (1) satisfies a relationship of 1 ≤ X ≤ 30:

               R 1 -A-R 2      Formula (1)

wherein A represents one selected from -S-, -S(=O)-, and - S(=O) 2 -, and R 1 and R 2 each independently represent a group selected from a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group, an alkyl group, a hydroxyalkyl group, an alkenyl group, an acyl group, a carbamoyl group, a carboxyl group, and a sulfonyl group.

    • Abstract: A system for converting data of various types into color dot images to perform various basic data managements by using the color dot images, and the color dot images are recorded and retained on an ordinary medium such as paper according to the quality of a medium and the quality of a reading unit and then are read into a computer with a scanner or a camera to restore basic data of various types. First, data of various types are represented by a color code train, a color dot is allowed to correspond to each color code in the color code train to generate a color dot image or object of an arbitrary shape to perform various basic data managements using the color dot image, the size of each dot and a dot-to-dot interval are controlled for printing and drawing on a medium of a various types such as paper and recording and retaining, basic data is restored from the color dot image in a computer, color dot images recorded and retained on a medium of various kinds are read with a scanner or a camera to restore them to basic data of various types.
