The method of producing a metal closed-section member formed in a cross-sectionally closed shape, from a metal plate workpiece, comprises a first press-forming step of using a first forming die assembly to press-form the plate workpiece into a convex shape, and a second press-forming step of providing a second forming die assembly, and, after the first press-forming step, under a condition that the press-formed plate workpiece is positioned between a receiving die and a core die of the second forming die assembly, causing relative movement of the core die with respect to the receiving die to press-form the press-formed plate workpiece into a given shape so that two sidewalls of a convex-shaped portion of the press-formed plate workpiece formed on respective ones of both sides of a top wall of the convex-shaped portion of the press-formed plate workpiece during the first press-forming step are displaced toward an inward side of the press-formed plate workpiece and cross-sectionally closed together.

Furthermore, the invention relates to a frame structure for a sandwich construction, which frame structure has been manufactured in accordance with the method according to the invention. In order to impart a three dimensional shape to the lattice structure (1) a force (F) is introduced into the lattice structure (1) along the middle one of the (imaginary) straight lines (5, 6) to which heat has been applied, wherein, as a result of deformation of the lattice structure, the introduced force F is deflected into pairs of tensile forces acting in the semifinished products, as a result of which the lattice structure (1) is pulled into a third dimension, along the middle (imaginary) straight line (5, 6) to which heat has been applied.

摘要： A refractory lining is formed in a furnace (40) by providing a carrier (20) for a lining form (10) which has dimensions that provide a uniform space for the introduction of refractory material (50) when the lining form (10) is concentrically located within the furnace (40). The carrier (20) concentrically engages and is attached to the lining form (10), and includes a portion that engages the furnace (40) and locates the carrier (20) and the lining form (10), when attached, concentrically within the furnace (40) to provide a uniform space therebetween. The carrier (20) can also have an upper surface that slopes downwardly from adjacent its center to its periphery to convey particulate refractory material (50) poured onto the surface into the space between the lining form (10) and the furnace (40). Further, a fixture is provided to hold the lining form (10) concentric while the particulate refractory material (50) is compacted by vibration.
