    • A mounting apparatus (100) for mounting a hard disk drive (300) to a storage rack (500) providing protection against vibrations and shocks and a constant and complete ground connection for the hard disk drive (300). The mounting apparatus (100) includes a supporting frame (20) and two grounding members (50). The supporting frame (20) accommodates and retains the two grounding members (50). Each grounding member (50) is made of resilient and conductive material, and includes a mounting plate (52) mounted to the side bracket (25), and two abutting plates (53). A part of each abutting plate (53) is exposed out of the side bracket (25) and when the mounting apparatus (100) is folded around the hard disk drive (300) and itself placed in a storage rack (500), the conductive abutting plates (53) are sandwiched between the storage rack (25) and the hard disk drive (300).

    • Provided is a buffer member helping to achieve stable electrical connection between a casing of an external storage device and an accommodating portion thereof without involving an increase in the number of components. A buffer member (5) has a conductive connection layer (7) held in contact with a hard disk drive (2) and with an accommodating portion (1a), so it is possible to dissipate static electricity with which the hard disk drive (2) is charged and electromagnetic wave noise through the conductive connection layer (7) to the accommodating portion (1a) or a casing of a notebook PC (1) electrically continuous with the accommodating portion (1 a). Thus, it is possible to prevent malfunction of the hard disk drive (2) and to correctly operate the notebook PC (1). Further, there is no need to separately provide a conductive member for conductive connection between the hard disk drive (2) and the accommodating portion (1a), thereby making it possible to avoid an increase in the number of components. Thus, the hard disk drive (2) can be easily incorporated into the accommodating portion (1a).
