摘要： A flexible paper microwave package in the form of an easily expandable, nontrapping bag (18) is disclosed including a bottom wall (20) and a top wall (22) interconnected together adjacent their circular outer peripheries (20a, 22a) by first and second interconnection portions (26a, 26b). In one preferred form, the top wall (22) is formed from a first portion (22d) having an oval shaped access opening closed by an oval shaped closure portion (22e) interconnected by a seal (40) to the first portion (22d). The bottom and top walls (20, 22) expand into an opposing double domed shape as the food product is being popped, puffed, or expanded in the microwave oven. This domed shape of the bottom wall (22) keeps the food product huddled closer together and enhances the bag (18) to rock to maximize gravimetric separation. The bag (18) provides a serving bowl function when the peelable closure seal (40) has been opened providing access to the interior of the bag (18) and specifically to the popped, puffed or expanded food product located therein. An extension (42) integrally extends from the closure portion (22e) along the major axis of the oval shape. First and second pairs of extensions (54) integrally extend from diametric opposite sides of the bottom and top walls (20, 22) and along the major axis of the oval shape. Slits (60, 66, 74) relieve the constraints of the extensions (54) to creasing and puckering of the bottom and top walls (20, 22) as they expand into the opposing double dome shape.

The containment package provides containment of any liquid or non-solid components of the popcorn composition. A burst facilitator can be used with the containment pouch; usually, this burst facilitator is water or other form of moisture.

摘要： An open-topped wide mouth paperboard tub (40) for popping popcorn in a microwave oven includes an upstanding side wall (12) which has a free edge (41) at the top and a lower edge (21) which rests on the oven floor. The tub (40) also includes a flat bottom wall (16) connected to the side wall (12) at an elevation spaced upwardly from its bottom edge (21) to define an air compartment between the bottom wall (16) and the oven floor. A microwave susceptor layer (48) is connected to the bottom wall (16) to assist in popping the popcorn. The lower edge (21) is uninterrupted to make possible a sealing engagement with the oven floor so that the air in the compartment becomes heated during cooking. A layer of unpopped kernels (50) rests on the bottom wall (16) in heat conductive relationship with the susceptor (48). A flexible cover (12') which is sealed to the free edge (41) expands upwardly as the kernels (50) pop to accommodate their expansion.

摘要： A package for use im microwave ovens is disclosed in its preferred form of a flexible, tubular bag (18) including expandable side walls (26) interconnected between bottom and top walls (20, 22), an openable end (28), and a permanent end wall (24). The side walls (26) include pleats (26a, 26b, 26c, 26d) which are folded in a collapsed condition of the bag (18) and expand due to internal expansion forces generated by the popping of kernels and the creation of water vapor. In a preferred form, the bag (18) is formed from a single layer of flexible, greaseproof paper of highly refined raw fibers of 100% chemical softwood pulp and having a basis weight in the order of 35 1b/ream. The single layer of paper forming the bag (18) provides greaseproof properties in storage, transportation, and cooking throughout the thickness of the paper to prevent wicking and leaking of grease or oil through the single layer. The bag (18) in a preferred form includes grease protectors (42a, 42b, 42c, 42d) located inside of the bag (18) for sealing the bottom and top walls (20, 22) to the pleats (26a, 26b, 26c, 26d) adjacent to their respective connecting edges and in a most preferred form further includes grease protectors (44a, 44b) outside of the bag (18) for sealing the first and second pleats (26a, 26b) together and the third and fourth pleats (26c, 26d) together adjacent to their respective connecting edges. The grease protectors (42a, 42b, 42c, 42d, 44a, 44b) seal the surfaces of the bag (18) just above and adjacent the connecting edges to block the flow of grease to prevent grease wicking or leaking from the bag (18).
