摘要： A method for retrofitting a window (10) by combining the window with a switchable or non switchable window enhancement (16). The method includes providing a window comprising at least one relatively transparent viewing pane (14) with first and second opposed viewing surfaces, and optionally a frame portion (12) adapted to support and position the viewing pane(s); providing at least one mounting means (18) adapted for securing the enhancement to the window; and securing a window enhancement to the window with at least one mounting means (18) so that the enhancement (16) overlies at least a portion of the viewing pane (14), and wherein a gap (20) is produced between the window and the enhancement equal in width to the thickness of the mounting means (18). The enhancement may be mounted on either the viewing pane itself, or alternately on the frame portion (12) of the window (10). If desired, the enhancement may be laminated to a relatively rigid substrate prior to application to the window. The invention is further directed to improved, retrofitted windows produced by the method of the invention.

摘要： A method for making a semiconductor device is disclosed which comprises the step of applying a functional layer on a substrate, characterized in that said substrate is a laminate which comprises a support and a glass layer, said glass layer having a thickness of less than 700 mum. The support is preferably a plastic foil. The laminate has the combined benefits of low weight and high strength and is therefore a suitable substrate for making flat panel displays such as liquid crystal displays, plasma displays, field emission displays or organic light-emitting polymer displays. Preferred examples of the functional layer are e.g. electroconductive layers, liquid crystal orientation layers, color filters, electroluminescent layers, passivation layers and phosphor layers.

摘要： A material is disclosed which is suitable for reducing the reflection of information displays such as a CRT, LCD, plasma tube, etc., and is characterised by an improved pencil hardness and excellent optical properties (lower average reflection, higher bandwidth). The anti-reflection material of the invention comprises an anti-reflective coating 20 and an optional top coat 10 on a flexible glass substrate 30 that is capable of being wound around a cylindrical core having a radius of 1.5 m. In a preferred method of the present invention the glass substrate 30 is provided with anti-reflective coating 20 using a continuous web coating process while being laminated to a polymer support 50 by using adhesive layer 40. Upon delamination (arrows 60) the adhesive layer 40 may remain fixed to glass substrate 30 (right embodiment of Figure 1) or to polymer support 50 (left embodiment of Figure 1). After said delamination the glass substrate 30 provided with anti-reflective coating 20 may be adhered to the front panel of an information display device.

摘要： A sheet of ultraviolet- or heat-cutoff glass includes a primer layer, an ultraviolet- or heat-cutoff layer, and a water-repellent layer which are successively deposited on a glass sheet. The water-repellent layer is formed of a vitreous water repellent.
