摘要： A filter assembly (10) includes a hollow housing (12) having a length and first and second ends (14,16). A membrane (22) contained within and extending along the length of the housing (12) separates the housing (12) into first and second chambers (24,26). An inlet (32) is proximate to the first end (14) and is in fluid communication with the first chamber (24). An outlet (34) is proximate to the second end (16) and is in fluid communication with the second chamber (26) for allowing a flow of fluid from the second chamber (26). The membrane (22) is air permeable when dry and air impermeable when wet whereby a wetting fluid entering the first chamber (24) at the first end of the housing (12) forces air from the first and second chambers (24,26) along the length of the membrane (22) and out of the outlet (34) as the fluid wets the membrane (22) thereby de-airing the first and second chambers (24,26) from one end to the other end along the length of the membrane (22) on both sides thereof.

摘要： An IV set can include an air stop membrane and one or more additional components including a zero dead space luer access device, a vent cap, a bubble removal component, an antimicrobial coating, insert, or filter, or a precision flow controller. An air stop membrane can be used within the IV set to maintain a fluid column within the IV set downstream of the membrane even after a fluid bag has emptied. By maintaining a fluid column downstream of the membrane, air is prevented from entering into the tubing that couples the IV set to a vascular access device. For this reason, once a fluid bag has emptied, a new fluid bag can be coupled to the IV set without needing to re-prime the IV set. Therefore, a clinician need not be present as a fluid bag is emptying to ensure that air does not enter the tubing.

Some devices include a resistance component for controllably deploying an injection needle through the eye wall. The resistance component may be disposed on the injector device, or on a portion of the injection device housing, or on a drug reservoir. Some devices may be removably attached to a drug reservoir, for example, through a luer connector. Other devices may comprise internal luer seal for securely connecting a drug conduit of the device to the luer cavity of a drug reservoir. Yet other devices may comprise a priming-enabling element to facilitate the drug priming of a shielded needle. Related methods and systems comprising the devices are also described.
