    • Paillier-based blind decryption. A user device (110) obtains (S10) a first Paillier Paillier ciphertext c for a message m, generates (S11) a blinded Paillier ciphertext c 0 by calculating c 0 = c mod N , sends (S12) the blinded Paillier ciphertext c 0 to a decryptor (120) and generates (S13) a first value ϱ 0 = c 0 - 1 mod N and a blinded plaintext m * = c ⁢ ϱ 0 mod N 2 - 1 N . The decryptor (120) generates (S15) a first key λ 0 from a private key λ , generates (S16) a second value ρ 0 = c 0 λ 0 mod N, generates (S17) a third value ϱ = ρ 0 N mod N 2 and, finally, generates (S18) a return value μ 1 = ϱ ⁢ c 0 mod N 2 - 1 N that is returned (S19) to the user device (110), which calculates (S20) the clear plaintext m = m * + µ 1 mod N . The clear plaintext m can then for example be output to a user or stored for later retrieval. Also provided is a generalized Paillier-based blind decryption.
