摘要： A multilayer film suitable for cook-in end use includes an outer layer that includes a homo- or co-polymer of propylene and, directly adhered to the outer layer, a layer that includes at least one of: (a) an ethylene/alkyl acrylate copolymer having a high melting point, (b) propylene/α-olefin copolymer having a lower propylene mer content than the outer layer and having a high Vicat softening point, and (c) an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer with at least 15% vinyl acetate mer content. The film exhibits good seal strength and good adhesion between the two layers, even in areas where the film is sealed, even after the film is oriented, even when the film is subjected to the elevated temperatures involved in cook-in procedures, and even where the film is subjected to, e.g., grease from fatty foods. The film also can include one or more other layers including, for example, bulk layers, O 2 -barrier layers, and/or abuse layers.

摘要： A flexible food package with a wall comprised of thin film layers, one of which has a reduced permeability characteristic that reduces absorption by the package wall of oils associated with the food product in the package. The reduced permeability characteristic is achieved by an enhanced orientation or enhanced crystallinity of the polymers forming the thin film layer. Reducing the amount of oil absorbed by the package wall reduces the amount of swelling, puckering, and disfigurement of the package.

摘要： The present invention relates to a method of using oxygen scavenging material to a decrease oxidation and maintain product properties in packaged beverages, foods, oxygen sensitive materials or oxygen sensitive components comprising the steps of: a) incorporating an oxygen scavenging material into the structure of a container used to package beverages, foods, oxygen sensitive materials or oxygen sensitive components; b) placing beverages, foods, oxygen sensitive materials or oxygen sensitive components in the container; c) sealing the container; and d) storing the container at a temperature between 20 DEG F and 120 DEG F; wherein the oxygen scavenging material is selected from the group consisting of oxidizable polymers, ethylenically unsaturated polymers, benzylic polymers, allylic polymers, polybutadiene, poly[ethylene-methyl-acrylate-cyclohexene acrylate] terpolymers, poly[ethylene-vinylcyclohexene] copolymers, polylimonene resins, poly beta -pinene, poly alpha -pinene and a combination of a polymeric backbone, cyclic olefinic pendent groups and linking groups linking the olefinic pendent groups to the polymeric backbone.

摘要： In one embodiment the present invention provides a coated substrate comprising a substrate, a radiation-cured coating or a thermally-cured on at least a portion of the substrate, wherein the coating comprises an inherent macroscopic texture. In another embodiment, the present invention provides a pre-cured coating mixture comprising a radiation-curable resin and an initiator, or a thermally-curable resin and thermal initiator, wherein the radiation- or thermally-curable resin and the respective initiator form a pre-cured coating mixture capable of forming a macroscopic texture upon application of the mixture on a substrate. In another embodiment the present invention provides a pre-cured coating mixture comprising a radiation- or thermally-curable resin, an initiator, and texture-producing particles having an effective size to provide a macroscopic texture upon application of the mixture on a substrate. In another embodiment, the present invention provides a coated substrate comprising a substrate and a radiation- or thermally-cured coating on at least a portion of the substrate, wherein the coating comprises an inherent macroscopic texture.In addition, the present invention provides a process for making a coating on a substrate, comprising the steps of distributing a pre-cured coating mixture comprising a radiation-curable resin and an initiator or a thermally-curable resin and thermal initiator over at least a portion of a substrate to form a pre-cured coating having a macroscopic texture, and radiation-curing or thermally curing, respectively, the pre-cured coating to form a radiation-cured or thermally-cured coating having the macroscopic texture.

摘要： A metallized composite (10) includes a thermoplastic sheet (12) and at least one discontinuous layer (14) of metal within the thermoplastic sheet. The discontinuous metal layer can be disposed between two thermoplastic layers that are bound together, such as by melting the layers together, pressing, or by use of an adhesive (22). The metallized composites of the invention can be employed as reflective surfaces, such as are used as mirrors or substitutes for chrome trim on automobiles. A particularly preferred metal as a component of the discontinuous layer of the composite is indium.
