摘要： A video imaging system is disclosed. The system is responsive to electrical signals introduced into it, which electrical signals represent an image. The system includes an acoustic-optical cell (31), the cell including an anisotropic medium for sound transmittal. The electrical signals are received, and optionally compressed (53), before being introduced into transducers (42) mounted on the cell. The transducers convert the electrical signals into sound waves which traverse the width of the cell. After substantially a full line of display of the image is travelling through the cell, a monochromatic light source (11), such as a metal vapor pulsed laser, is pulsed for a time duration less than the propagation time of a single pixel across or transverse to the sound signal in the cell. This modulates the monochromatic light which is then focused (63, 71) and displayed on a screen (81) at the appropriate position for the line of image.

摘要： The wide angle lens system described herein allows projection devices (e.g., rear projection display devices) to be more compact than would otherwise be possible. The lens system includes a wide angle lens stage and a relay lens stage. When operating as a projection device, the relay lens stage projects a distorted intermediate image to the wide angle lens stage, which projects the image for display. The distortion cause by the relay lens stage compensates (i.e., is approximately equal and opposite) for the distortion caused by the wide angle stage. The distortion can be the image shape and/or the focal plane. When operating as a taking device, the wide angle stage provides a distorted image to the relay lens stage, which compensates for the distortion and provide a less distorted, or even non-distorted image, for capture.

摘要： An imaging apparatus (10) for two-stage light modulation in high-definition digital projection or cinema can include two light modulators (20,24). Each light modulator can include a multi-chip imaging system (40,66) coupled to a total internal reflection prism (TIR) system, which has a light input face and an on-state face. Relay optics (22) can be positioned between the two light modulators. The relay optics can be configured to defocus light received from the pre-modulator (20) and to provide defocused light to the prime modulator (24) using a substantially Gaussian pixel shaping function. The prime modulator (24) can be oriented to receive defocused light (60) from the relay optics (22) at the light input face (78) of its TIR prism system. The pre-modulator (20) can be oriented backwards, so as to receive source light (36) at the on-state face (54) of its TIR prism system and to output pre-modulated light (42) to the relay optics (22) via the light input face (52) of the TIR prism system.

To this end, the luminescent layer (9) contains MSi6-aAlaN8-aOx+a:Eu2+ (with M = Sr, Ba, Ca; 0 ≤ x ≤ 1; 0 ≤ a ≤ 1) as a luminescent material. With this material laser light of a laser diode emitting in the wavelength region of 405 nm can be converted to blue light of 450 nm with high efficiency. The proposed projection system, therefore, is suitable for RGB projection using laser diodes as laser light sources.
