    • A heavy-load tire has a wind bead structure in which a turned-up portion (6b) of a carcass ply (6) is wound around a bead core (5), in which a bead portion is equipped with a bead reinforcing layer (9) having a U-shaped cross section and a bead apex rubber (10) having a triangular-shaped cross section. The turned-up portion (6b) has an auxiliary turned-up portion (8) passing through the vicinity of a radially outer side of the bead core. The bead apex rubber (10) includes a high elasticity inner apex portion (10A) disposed at a radially inner side and a low elasticity outer apex portion (10B) disposed at a radially outer side. The inner apex portion (10A) has an L-shaped cross section including a bottom piece portion (10A1) along the radially outer side of the auxiliary turned-up portion (8), and a raised piece portion (10A2) which rises at an axially inner end side of the bottom piece portion (10A1) and extends radially outwardly in a tapering manner along the body portion of the carcass ply.

    • The invention relates to a tyre comprising sidewalls connecting a crown portion with beads (1) which are intended to come into contact with a mounting rim (J), said sidewalls comprising a carcass reinforcement (2) which is anchored in each bead (1) to at least one bead core (7) and which has one end (A) in each bead. Viewed in meridian cross-section, the bead core (7) has an external profile comprising two profile parts, namely: a first radially-inner part with axial width L which extends between the axially innermost point (B2) and the axially outermost point (B1), and a second radially-outer part between points B1 and B2. Each bead comprises at least one additional coupling reinforcement (5) which is in contact with the carcass reinforcement (2). The tyre is characterised in that, in each bead viewed in meridian cross-section, (i) the carcass reinforcement (2) is partially wound around the bead core (7) and is such that the end (A) thereof is positioned axially between the end points (B1 and B2) of the radially inner profile part of the bead core (7) and (ii) the additional coupling reinforcement (5) adjoins the carcass reinforcement (2) such as to be wound at least partially around the bead core (7), i.e. such as to cover at least partially the radially outer profile part of said core.

    • A run-flat tire (10) has a radial carcass reinforcement ply (34) extending through a pair of opposing sidewalls and anchored in opposing bead portions (12, 14). At least one of the bead portions has a bead heel (28) and a bead toe (30) wherein the bead heel is radially outward and axially inward from the bead toe. At least one of the bead portions has a bead composite (38) and a bead apex (42) therein. The bead composite has a maximum axial width (W B ), the axial width being measured perpendicular to the tire equatorial plane. The maximum axial width (W B ) is greater than 50% of the maximum axial width (W) of the at least one bead portion, as measured from the opposing axial sides of the bead portion.
