摘要： A system including methods and apparatus for treatment of a medical disorder such as obstructive sleep apnea or congestive heart failure. The system involves applying a gain to flow rate of pressurized gas delivered to a patient during inspiratory and/or expiratory phases of a respiratory cycle to deliver the pressurized gas in proportion to the respective gains during inspiration and/or expiration. A base pressure may be applied in addition to the gain-modified pressures and an elevated pressure profile may be employed to assist or control inspiration. The system may be fully automated responsive to feedback provided by a flow sensor that determines the estimated patient flow rate. A leak computer can be included to instantaneously calculate gas leakage from the system. The system may be utilized in connection with conventional continuous positive airway pressure treatments, such as CPAP or bi-level positive airway pressure equipment to effect various beneficial treatment applications.

摘要： A ventilator includes a sensor to monitor a characteristic associated with the delivery of gas to the patient, such as pressure. A sensor power supply (100, 130) is feeding a sensor in the form of a Wheatstone bridge. A first end (104) of the bridge is coupled to a first positive voltage source (112, 142) and a second end (116) is coupled to a second positive voltage source (118, 156, 180). A capacitor (120) is coupled to the second end of the bridge. A controller (50) controls the first and the second positive voltage sources so as to (a) disable the sensor by causing the first positive voltage source to provide substantially zero voltage to the first end of the Wheatstone bridge and by causing the second positive voltage source to provide a positive voltage to the second end of the capacitor, and to (b) enable the sensor by causing the first positive voltage source to provide a positive voltage to the first end of the Wheatstone bridge and by causing the second positive voltage source to provide a decreasing voltage to the second end of the capacitor.

摘要： A patient interface (10) having a forehead support adjustably (34). The forehead support assembly includes a support arm (36) that is adjustably mounted to the mask shell (14), thereby allowing the adjustment of the distance between the forehead support bracket (40) and the mask shell in order to adj ust for patient's of different sizes. A forehead support bracket is pivotally connected to the support arm. The pivoting forehead support bracket is self-aligning to allow the forehead pad to remain parallel to the patient's forehead at all times, thus enhancing comfort and stability. The forehead support bracket is removable from the support arm, allowing the headgear (with support bracket attached) to be donned separately from the mask and support arm. The forehead support bracket in one embodiment has a forehead pad formed from the headgear itself.
