    • A system for controlling a grid connected power generating system (90) is provided. The system includes a wind turbine (42, 12), a converter (14, 16), a first controller (18) and a second controller (154). The wind turbine supplies electrical power to a power grid (22) and the converter (14, 16) couples the wind turbine to the power grid. The first controller (18) calculates voltage commands to emulate a phasor back electromotive force behind an inductance. The controller further generates converter switching commands from the voltage commands. The voltage commands include a voltage magnitude reference and an internal frequency reference calculated from a power imbalance between an active power reference and the electrical power. The second controller is used to limit a converter current.

    • A method of conditioning tantalum capacitors (12) on printed wire assemblies to yield low failure rates is disclosed. According to the method, each of the capacitors (12) on an assembly is subjected to the same conditioning level during testing. To condition the tantalum capacitors (12), surge currents (30) are induced in the capacitors (12) in a controlled manner. The level of voltage, timing and current levels are set by circuitry (10) used to perform the testing. The same circuits that are used with the capacitors (12) in a system application are also used for the tantalum capacitor test circuit (10) during the conditioning process.
