摘要： A pressing machine comprising two rods that can be axially and respectively displaced by means of a drive unit. The front face of a helical spring that is placed on top of each rod touches the sample which is pushed onto a support and pushes said sample against the abutment. Both rods are driven backwards before the sample is touched. They press the sample against the abutment until both helical springs are relaxed and become detached from the sample without force, whereupon the drop hammer is released. The sample remains on the abutment without any play and rebounds from the impact of the drop hammer do not occur.

摘要： A material testing machine has a movable, load applying block and a fixed, load sensing block. The load sensing block has a body with sufficient volume and mass and a small sensing projection provided on the body. The sensing projection is much smaller than the body and has a side surface on which strain gages are affixed. A test piece is installed to the material sensing projection such that any load applied to the test piece may be transmitted to the sensing projection to cause a corresponding strain of the sensing projection. Any strain of the sensing projection, which may be either static strain or dynamic strain, can be determined from the outputs of the strain gages. The determined strain of the sensing projection is used to derive the load transmitted to the sensing projection and thus the load applied to the test piece.

摘要： A sheet screen is provided on one of sides of test glass, and a projected image of the test glass is electronically and directly picked up. After tone image signals of the test glass thus picked up are binarized while modifying threshold values according to brightness of a background in the tone image, the number of fragments, the area of the greatest fragment and the length of the longest fragment are calculated. Thus, operations, such as calculating the number of the fragments, can be automatically performed by directly picking up an image of the test glass, allowing a fragmentation test to be carried out with good operability and high precision.

摘要： The apparatus of the invention comprises a portable, hand-held unit having a plurality of impactors disposed therein. The plurality of impactors comprise a number of differently weighted spheres that are each designed to impart a different impact energy into the structure to be tested. Each sphere is disposed on a distal end of a spring-steel rod. A particular weighted sphere is chosen by a selector disposed on the testing unit. The sphere is withdrawn from the rest position by a pair of jaws to a given height above the structure. At a predetermined released point, the sphere is released, causing it to impact the structure with a specific duration and impart a given energy thereto. The impact produces stress waves that are reflected from the internal flaws and external surfaces of the structure. The reflected waves are detected by a transducer that converts the stress waves into an electrical signal (displacement waveform). The waveform is then processed to provide an amplitude spectrum, and in the case of plates, a reflection spectrum. For plates, the reflection spectrum can be interpreted by a neural network which provides results that are indicative of either the thickness of the structure or of the defects disposed therein.
