    • A test execution system (10) has a central repository (12) that contains a management unit (28), available test suites (16) and a single test execution harness (18). Using the management unit, a system administrator (26) establishes active versions of the various test suites, and their individual configurations. End users (30) install clients of the central repository, using a system-provided installer program (20). In the client, an execution script is created, which downloads the harness and a local configuration file. Then, when the harness is executed at the client, it loads with all designated test suites already installed, configured and ready for execution. The client always has the most current versions of all test suites. All necessary information is obtained from a single central location.

    • An apparatus and method are provided for testing component tolerances of a device (100) for testing integrated circuits. The testing device (100) is generally characterized by a plurality of test connectors disposed at a test head (205), wherein each test connector carries electrical signals for a test channel. Further, each test channel generally corresponds to a circuit board (400) that includes at least one driver (402) and one receiver (404). In this general type of tester (100), a system is provided that includes a specialized DUT board (500) that establishes a low impedance electrical connection ( i.e., short) between electrical conductors (506) of a first and second test connector. Through this low impedance path, a first driver (402a) from a first circuit board (400a) is directly connected ( i.e., shorted) to a first receiver (404b) on a second circuit board (400b). A controller (206) is configured to control the first driver (402a) to output an electrical signal at a predetermined time. The preferred embodiment further includes evaluating mechanism (206, 812) designed to detect the signal received at the first receiver (404b), and timing mechanism (206, 810) configured to time the signal delay. Specifically, the timing mechanism (206, 810) is configured to determine the length of time required to propagate the signal from the driver (402) to the receiver (404). In accordance with the method aspect, the method includes the step of establishing an electrical connection between electrical conductors (506) of a first and second test connector such that a first driver (402a) from a first circuit board (400a) is electrically connected across a low impedance path to a first receiver (404b) on a second circuit board (400b). The method then controls the output of the first driver (402a) to drive an edge of an electrical signal at a predetermined time and detecting the signal received at the first receiver (404b). Finally, the method determines whether the signal received at the first receiver (404b) is within a predetermined time period of the predetermined signal level output from the first driver (402a).

    • Disclosed is a data recovery system and method. A network data recovery method comprises the steps of: coupling the server and the client via a TCP/IP protocol through the network; the server detecting the corresponding data information from a first HDD of the client and transmitting the data information to the client when a data request is provided to the server by the client via the network; and the client receiving the detected data information from the server and storing data information in a storage device, recovering the damaged data by using stored information, and storing recovered data in a second HDD different from the damaged drive. A network data recovery system comprises a client connecting to a network, inputting a TCP/IP address and a password, reading information for recovering damaged data through the network or by using a sector reading function, recovering the data, and storing recovered data in an undamaged storage device; and a server checking the password when there is a connection request provided by the client on the network, allowing the connection when the password is found to be acceptable, analyzing the request data, and transmitting a response to the client when there is a data request provided by the client through the allowed path.

    • During the operation of an electronic system (100), such as a document processing system, machine and job data of the electronic system are collected by a diagnostic system (300) for automated diagnosis or prognosis. Optionally, machine data and population based data are acquired from a database or server. According to one embodiment, the data is analyzed to determine an initial diagnosis of the electronic system. Based on the initial diagnosis, a determination is made whether a remote transmission is needed. If so, the data is sent via a distributed network to a remote diagnostic system for analysis. At least part of the collected machine data may be a signature waveform of a part of the electronic system. In such a case, at least the analysis by the remote diagnostic system includes signature analysis of the waveform. Based on the analysis of the data by the remote diagnostic system, a communication is sent. The communication may be one or more of a repair information sent to a customer, a parts request sent to an appropriate entity, a service request notification to a customer service engineer and a revised set of operating instructions sent to the electronic system. The communication may be sent via the distributed network. If the communication is a revised set of operating instructions sent to the electronic system, the diagnostic system preferably verifies that the electronic system using the revised set of operating instructions is within specification.
