    • L'invention concerne la finition d'articles rigides, par exemple tapis auto, par autocollage de l'extrémité libre de la lisière surjetée.
      Elle consiste à déplacer l'article (2) sur un support (17), longitudinalement dans le sens du côté de l'article où se trouve ladite extrémité libre, à injecter au droit de ladite lisière (4) de l'air porté à une température proche de la température de ramollissement de la matière thermoplastique constitutive du fil de lisière et, immédiatement après, à écraser en continu la lisière (4).
      De préférence, dans l'installation de l'invention, le support (17) est incliné et comporte une butée (13) longitudinale de maintien de l'article (4). Le support est par exemple constitué de rouleaux (8) parallèles, juxtaposés et entraînés en rotation. L'écrasement est réalisé par un cylindre (19) assorti d'un ressort de pression.
      L'installation est placée devant plusieurs poste de surjetage (3).
