    • Process for the preparation of (2,2)-paracyclophane starting from p.methyl-benzyl-trimethyl-ammonium halide, consisting in first preparing the p.methyl-benzyl-trimethyl-ammonium hydroxide and successively subjecting the product thus obtained to the HOFMANN Elimination in the presence of a biphasic system consisting of an inert organic solvent and an alkaline solution having a concentration of at least 20% by weight.
