A plurality of collating circuits (10) is provided each of which allows each of the latch circuits (8) to retain or hold recorded information on at least past three lines as the previous recorded information and feeds back the past latch outputs (Q6, Q7, Q8) of the latch circuit (8) to any one (Q3) of the outputs of the latch circuit (8).

摘要： A historical control circuit in a thermal printer controls the drive current fed to a resistive heating element (2) according to the printing of previous dots by that resistive heating element (2). The circuit remembers whether or not the heating element (2) printed a certain number of preceding dots and, for each printed dot among those dots, masks an interval in the drive signal. This is done in such a way that if two patterns of previous dots contain unequal numbers of printed dots but generate equal residual temperatures, the drive signal for the pattern with more printed dots is divided into more separate pulses. Adjustments can be made by masking or unmasking a specific interval for a specific pattern. Cutoff of the drive signal may be delayed for patterns in which a certain number of most recent dots were all unprinted.

摘要： A method and apparatus are applicable to a thermal recording system (60) which records data in a recording medium (50) using a heat generated by applying a power to a resistor (1). According to the invention the resistor (1) itself or a monitor, which is disposed in the path of electric current applied to the resistor, is made of a material having the metallic/non-metallic phase transition characteristics at predetermined temperature, whereby the resistor or the monitor can have a function to interrupt the electric current at the predetermined temperature so that the peak temperature of the resistor is controlled constantly regardless of the value or period of the applied voltage. Further, it achieves a uniform recording property and a stable continuous tone recording property by controlling the period for holding the peak temperature of the resistor (1).
