摘要： A method for manufacturing a preform, wherein a sheet-shaped structure made of a reinforcing-fiber base material with reinforcing fibers arranged in a predetermined direction is formed into a shape along a lower mold having a three-dimensional shape with a recessed section by using the lower mold and a plurality of upper molds each having a pressing mechanism, characterized in that the sheet-shaped structure is placed on the lower mold while at least one spot in the sheet-shaped structure is temporarily pressed with at least one of the upper molds, and at least one spot other than the temporarily pressed spot in the sheet-shaped structure is pressed with another upper mold, and then a spot which is neither the temporarily pressed spot nor the pressed spot is pressed with yet another upper mold, and the spot which has been temporarily pressed with the upper mold is actually pressed by a predetermined pressing force. According to this manufacturing method, when a sheet-shaped structure produced from a reinforcing-fiber base material is formed into a three-dimensional shape, the base material is prevented from becoming wrinkled, and a preform having a target shape can be formed efficiently with high productivity.

摘要： A thermoset composite material that my used in the fabrication of structural components including railroad ties comprise a substantially homogeneous blend of an amount of vulcanized rubber particles including a predetermined ratio of different particles sizes, and a thermoset elastomeric binding agent added to the vulcanized rubber particles. The blend may comprise about 30% to about 97% by weight of the vulcanized rubber particles, and the blend is subjected to compression molding at a predetermined temperature and pressure for a resident time period forming the composite material. The ratio of different rubber particle sizes is selected so that the composite material has a desired density or is within a range of desired densities.

摘要： A preform comprising at least a layer of polyester resin and having a neck ring at a mouth part formed by compression molding, characterized in that the polyester layer at its bottom center or under the neck ring has a temperature difference (ΔTc), represented by the following formula, of ≤ 15˚C, ΔTc = Tc2-Tc1 wherein Tc1 is a heating crystallization peak temperature determined by measuring a polyester layer cut out from the preform by means of differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), and Tc2 a heating crystallization peak temperature determined by, after the determination of Tc1, conducting melting and quenching and thereafter measuring. Consequently, there can be obtained a preform of reduced molding strain excelling in the dimensional stability at crystallization of the mouth part. The molded item obtained by stretch blow molding of this preform is free from any deviation of wall thickness and any occurrence of flaw or wrinkle and excels in appearance characteristics.
