    • A sprocket assembly in the form of a subassembly (1,2) including a spider-type sprocket support (10) which supports first and second sprockets (20,30). The sprocket support (10) includes a boss (11) and a plurality of supporting arms (15) extending radially outward from the boss (11). Each supporting arm includes a first mounting surface (16) and a second mounting surface (17) opposite the first mounting surface in an end region of the supporting arm (15). The first sprocket (20) is mounted to the first mounting surface (16) of each supporting arm, and the second sprocket (30) is mounted to the second mounting surface (17) of each supporting arm. A difference between the number of teeth on the first sprocket and the number of teeth on the second sprocket is small, e.g. from one to three teeth. The subassembly may include fastening means (6) in the form of an attachment pin which extends through a first sprocket opening (21) in the first sprocket (20), a second sprocket opening (31) in the second sprocket (30), and an attachment opening (18) in a corresponding supporting arm (15), which fastens the first sprocket (20) and the second sprocket (30) to the respective first mounting surface (16) and second mounting surface (17). A multiple sprocket assembly includes one or more suitably disposed sprocket subassemblies (1,2). One or more third sprockets (3a, 3b, 3c) may be disposed in a row with the first sprocket and the second sprocket of the, or each, subassembly.

    • A method of manufacturing a stainless steel ventilated brake disc (22) is provided that results in a relatively inexpensive stainless steel ventilated brake disc (22). In manufacturing the ventilated brake disc (22), a pair of annular plate members (30) are provided that are constructed of stainless steel. Then a spacing member (32) constructed of stainless steel is inserted between the inner axially facing surfaces of the first and second annular plate members (30). A nickel bonding paste is applied at the points of contact between the spacing member (32) and the inner axially facing surfaces of the first and second annular plate members (30). Heat is now applied to the spacing member (32) and the annular plate members (30) as a combined unit (48) with the nickel bonding paste applied thereto. This heating of the assembled unit austenitize the spacing member (32) and the annular plate members (30) and simultaneously bonds the spacing member (32) to the inner axially facing surfaces of the annular plate members (30).

    • A bicycle disc brake caliper (21) with a detachable cooling system (20) that transfers heat away from the actuating fluid. Basically, the bicycle disc brake caliper (21) has a housing and a piston unit, with a coolant member (24) of the cooling system (20) attached to the housing. Th ehousing has an actuating passage in fluid communication with the piston unit to move the piston unit via an actuating fluid. In one embodiment, a coolant or water bottle is attached to the coolant member (24) for manually adding coolant thereto. In another embodiment, the coolant member (24) is filled with a high specific heat gel.
