    • The invention relates to a seal arrangement (10) comprising: - a first machine element (12) and a second machine element (14) which are mutually spaced, thereby forming a seal gap (28), and are arranged in a translationally movable manner relative to each other along a movement axis (16); - a seal element (24) with a sealing lip (26), said seal element being arranged at least partly in a holding groove (20) of the first machine element (12); - an elastically deformable pretensioning element which is arranged in the holding groove (20); and - at least one elastically deformable damping element for axially supporting the seal element (24), said damping element being arranged at least partly between a low-pressure-side groove flank (30) of the holding groove (20) and the seal element (24) in an axial direction. An open area (42) is formed between the damping element (36) and the sealing surface (28) of the second machine part (14), said open area being delimited in a radial direction by the sealing surface (28) of the second machine element and a damping element (36) inner wall (40) which faces the sealing surface (28).
