    • The present invention is a process to make a composition comprising at least a monovinylaromatic polymer and at least a dispersed phase of one or more polymers made from renewable resources comprising :
      a) forming a polymerizable mixture comprising :
      at least a monomer or a dimer (a1) selected among an hydroxy carboxylic acid, a precursor of said hydroxy carboxylic acid, a cyclic component polymerizable by ring-opening polymerization (ROP) and a mixture of an epoxide and carbon dioxide,
      dispersed in at least (a2) one monovinylaromatic monomer,
      optionally a rubber dissolved in (a2) the monovinylaromatic monomer,

      b) contacting an appropriate catalyst with the polymerizable solution at conditions effective to produce a polymer A1 comprising the repeating units (a1) dispersed in the (a2) monovinylaromatic monomer,
      c) polymerizing through a radical pathway the solution obtained at step b) optionally in the presence of a free radical initiator, optionally in the presence of chain transfer agents,
      d) degassing the product of step c) to separate the optional unpolymerized monomers and comonomers and recovering a composition comprising at least a (A2) monovinylaromatic polymer and at least (A1) wherein, the weight proportion A1/(A2+A1) is up to 50%.
      In a second embodiment steps b) and c) are made in one step. The polymerizable mixture is contacted with an appropriate catalyst at conditions effective to essentially simultaneously produce a polymer A1 and a monovinylaromatic polymer.
      (a1) is advantageously a lactide. The monovinylaromatic monomer is advantageously styrene.

    • The present invention relates to a process for catalytically converting an alkylaromatic hydrocarbon into a vinylaromatic hydrocarbon by directing said alkylaromatic hydrocarbon and steam into a reactor containing dehydrogenation catalyst, said process comprising the steps of:
      (a) forming a mixed reactant stream consisting essentially of said alkylaromatic hydrocarbon and steam;
      (b) bringing said mixed reactant stream into contact with a dehydrogenation catalyst consisting essentially of iron oxide catalyst promoted with alkali metal and at conditions effective to convert at least a portion of the alkylaromatic hydrocarbon to vinylaromatic hydrocarbon;

      wherein an effective amount of an alkali metal compound in the form of a powder is injected continuously or intermittently in at least one of the feedstocks sent to the dehydrogenation catalyst; said effective amount of alkali metal compound being sufficient to maintain substantially constant levels of conversion of alkylaromatic hydrocarbon and selectivity of vinylaromatic hydrocarbon.

    • The present invention concerns a monovinylaromatic polymer composition comprising a bio-sourced polymer dispersed phase and optionally a rubber dispersed phase wherein said bio-courced polymer dispersed phase is predominantly made of particles having a size of less than 10 µm.
      The present invention also relates to a process (hereunder referred as the first process) to make said monovinylaromatic polymer composition, said process comprising admixing :
      a monovinylaromatic monomer,
      at least one bio-sourced polymer,
      optionally a rubber,
      at conditions effective to polymerize at least a part of the monovinylaromatic monomer and generate a compatibilizer of the bio-sourced polymer and monovinylaromatic polymer.
      The present invention also relates to a process (hereunder referred as the second process) to make said monovinylaromatic polymer composition, said process comprising admixing :
      a monovinylaromatic monomer,
      functionalized bio-sourced polymer-s), or mixtures of bio-sourced polymer (s)and functionalized bio-sourced polymer(s),
      optionally a rubber,
      at conditions effective to polymerize at least a part of the monovinylaromatic monomer.
      The present invention also relates to a process (hereunder referred as the third process) to make said monovinylaromatic polymer composition, said process comprising blending in the molten state functionalized bio-sourced polymer(s) (or mixtures of bio-sourced polymer(s) and functionalized bio-sourced polymer(s)) with monovinylaromatic polymer, said monovinylaromatic polymer comprising optionally a rubber.
