The HUD apparatus is provided with a chassis that has an exit port (11a) from which display light from an indicator is emitted to the outside; a combiner (40) that displays a virtual image upon receiving the display light; a storage mechanism that makes the combiner (40) transit from one of a projecting state and a stored state to the other state by means of a link mechanism that is operated through the movement of a slider (56); a lid (60) that opens and closes the exit port (11a); and a lid supporting part (70) that is provided so as to be rotatable with respect to the chassis (10), one of the ends of which, with the center of rotation therebetween, supports the lid (60), and the other end of which is brought into contact with the slider (56). With the slider (56), the lid (60) opens and closes according to the rotation of the lid supporting part (70) in conjunction with the transition of the combiner (40) from one of the projecting state and the stored state to the other.
