    • A vacuum envelope includes flat face and rear plates (1, 2) that face each other, and a continuous phosphor screen (7) is formed on the inner surface of the face plate. The rear plate is provided with a plurality of electron guns (15) and deflectors (16) for deflecting electron beams emitted from the electron guns in the horizontal and vertical directions. As the electron beams are deflected, the phosphor screen is scanned with them in the horizontal and vertical directions. The phosphor screen has a plurality of regions arranged in the horizontal and vertical directions, and is scanned so that a raster is generated thereon. In vertical scanning at a lower speed than horizontal scanning, the vertically arranged regions are scanned on a time-series basis, whereupon rasters are generated thereon.

    • An inductive load driving method and an H-bridge circuit control device in which an erroneous operation is not caused by noises generated at a current detecting resistor (R S ). The current detecting resistor is inserted in an H-bridge circuit constructed to cause the flow of a current to an inductive load (L) in both of forward and reverse directions by four semiconductor switching elements (Q 1 -Q 4 ) and flywheel diodes (D 1 -D 4 ) respectively connected in reverse parallel to the semiconductor switching elements. When a current flowing through the inductive load is controlled by a detection voltage (V S ) generated by the current detecting resistor, the value of the detection voltage (V S ) is ignored immediately after the connection of the inductive load to a power source. There is no fear that an erroneous operation is caused by a rush current and/or a through current. When a power source regeneration is made to decrease a switching current, the inductive load is connected to the power source at a predetermined period and a current flowing at that time is detected as the detection voltage (V S ). There is no fear that the current becomes too small or the transfer to a steady is made while the current is large.

    • First and second images (S1, S2) are separated into luminance and chrominance components to generate a first signal (Y5), in which the luminance components of the two images are sequentially located in the 1H period and a second signal (C5) in which the chrominance components of the two images are located in the same. The second signal is delayed by (1/2)H period. The first signal and the delayed second signal are used to generate a third signal (S10) in which the luminance and chrominance components of the first image are sequentially located in the 1H period and a fourth signal (S12) in which the luminance and chrominance components of the second image are located in the same. The third and fourth signals are vertically expanded with arbitrary expansion ratios. Then, the expanded signals are synthesized to generate a fifth signal (S14) in which the luminance components of the first and second images are sequentially located in the 1H period and a sixth signal (S15) in which the chrominance components of the first and second images are located in the same. The fifth signal is delayed by (1/2)H period. The sixth signal and the delayed fifth signal are interpolated to make uniform the intervals among the scanning lines.
