    • The present invention relates to a process for producing a moulded protein product encased in an edible skin by treating the surface thereof with an aqueous solution comprising an edible acid salt of a carboxylic acid either alone or with an edible carboxylic acid or a mixture of an edible carboxylic acid and an edible neutral salt of a carboxylic acid, in which the molar ratio of the acid anion to the base cation is from 2:1 to 20:1 which reacts with protein to form a cohesive layer. The pH value of the aqueous solution is from 3 to 6. The aqueous solution is preferably made up by mixing acetic acid and sodium acetate with water in appropriate proportions.

    • The present invention relates to polymeric compositions containing a polymer latex and an internal plasticizer, and which compositions are capable of producing flexible, thermoplastic polymer films. The internal plasticizer comprise an adduct of the general formula (I):
      wherein

      R is an H atom, a methyl group or an ethyl group;
      R 2 is a group selected from methyl, ethyl and phenyl

      groups;

      R 3 is an H atom or a C 1 - C 4 alkyl group; and
      n is an integer from 1 - 20.

      Specific examples of polymeric latices which may be internally plasticized include those derived from the polymers and copolymers of vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride, methyl methacrylate and styrene. The adducts, in which R 3 represents H, can link with the polymer through their unsaturated linkage and still have a free hydroxyl group which gives an added flexibility in terms of the range of products that can be produced.

    • The present invention relates to a process for conversion of synthesis gas hydrocarbons in general and to aromatics rich gasoline in particular by contacting the gas with a catalyst composition comprising gallium oxide and/or indium oxide and at least one additional oxide of a metal from Group IB-VIIB or VIII of the Periodic Table. Cerium, thorium and uranium are the preferred additional metals. The catalyst composition may optionally contain a further component e.g. zeolite which in some cases can also act as a support.
      The present process (i) results in a low make of C, to C 2 hydrocarbons, (ii) is capable of using synthesis gas which has a low H 2 :CO ratio, and (iii) gives a higher conversion of CO than achieved hitherto under similar conditions.
