    • There is provided an electrode (30) for use in a blow-back type plasma arc torch (10) comprising a nozzle, the electrode (30) being configured to be axially movable with respect to a nozzle of the plasma arc torch (10) and to initiate a pilot arc within the plasma arc torch (10). The electrode (30) defines an end face (42), an axial length L, and an outer surface (31). The electrode (30) further defines a projection (70) extending radially outwardly from the outer surface (31), wherein the projection (70) is configured to engage a non-conductive wear stop (65) disposed within the plasma arc torch (10) when the length L is shorter than a predefined length due to wear of the end face (42) during use of the plasma arc torch (10), such that engagement of the projection (70) with the wear stop (65) prevents the electrode (30) from moving axially towards the nozzle and continued wear of the end face precludes initiation of the pilot arc.
