摘要： A feeder (3) is adapted to feed a medium (P) to a down stream section in a first direction. A feeding tray (7) has a supporting face (5) adapted to support the medium (P) thereon and formed with a groove (47). A first edge guide (31) is provided on the supporting face (5) so as to be slidable in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. A second edge guide (39) is provided on the supporting face (5) so as to oppose to the first edge guide, so that the medium (P) is placed therebetween. An auxiliary guide body (43) is provided in the first edge guide (31) and having a projection slidably engaged with the groove (47), the auxiliary guide body (43) being slidable relative to the first edge guide in the first direction and a third direction opposite to the first direction, in accordance with the slide movement of the first edge guide in the second direction by way of the engagement between the projection and the groove (47). The auxiliary guide body (43) has a guiding face (45) projected from the first edge guide in the first direction when a distance between the first edge guide and the second edge guide is no greater than a first prescribed value and adapted to be brought into contact with one of the side edges of the medium (P).

摘要： An image forming apparatus (1) includes upstream and downstream transport rollers (7, 8) for transporting a recording paper sheet (3). The upstream transport roller (7) is disposed on the upstream side of a recording head (10) while the downstream transport roller (8) is disposed on the downstream side of the recording head (10). When forming an image on the first half area of the recording sheet (3), the upstream transport roller (7) rotates and is responsible for transporting the recording sheet (3). When forming an image on the second half area of the recording sheet (3), the downstream transport roller (8) rotates and is responsible for transporting the sheet (3). This structure provides printing without margins at the leading and trailing edges of the sheet (3). By adjusting the gap sizes between rollers in each of the upstream and the downstream rollers (7, 8), the transport speed of the sheet (3) is maintained constant so that high-quality print image can be obtained without uneven density in an image.

摘要： Disclosed are the following: a wide format thermal printer for printing a multicolor graphic product on a printing sheet; a vacuum workbed for supporting a sheet material for performing work operations, such as cutting, printing or plotting, thereon; a replaceable donor sheet assembly, which includes a memory (300), for use with a thermal printer; methods and apparatus for improved thermal printing, including methods and apparatus for conserving donor sheet and reducing the amount of time required to print a multicolor graphic product; a thermal printhead including a memory; and methods and apparatus for the alignment of a sheet material for printing or performing other work operations on the sheet material. The wide format thermal printer can include provision for the automatic loading of cassettes of donor sheet from a cassette storage rack. The vacuum workbed can include provision for determining the size of the sheet material supported by the workbed, and for controlling the suction applied to the apertures in a worksurface of the workbed. Also disclosed are methods and apparatus for controlling the tension of the donor sheet during printing with a wide format thermal printer.
