摘要： A device for supporting a comb binder (3) to enable perforated sheets (F) to be placed thereon is disclosed. Said binder has the form of an elongate channel and consists of a comb with transverse curved teeth (D) divided into pairs by gaps (I). The device comprises a set of supporting tabs (5, 5') arranged in pairs, and at least one tab in each pair is movable relative to the other tab so that in a first mutual positioning mode or retracted mode, said tabs can be inserted into the gap (I) between two adjacent teeth (D) of the binder (3), whereas in a second positioning mode or deployed mode, said tabs engage said teeth (D) and thereby support the binder (3). A binding machine provided with said device is also disclosed.

摘要： An apparatus (10) for spiral binding a stack of papers (24) together as a unit. The apparatus includes a punch (12) for punching a plurality of holes (23) along one edge of the stack of papers and a spiral binding unit (14) for feeding a spiral coil (36) into the holes. The spiral binding unit (14) includes an aperture (44) through which a coil is inserted between a shoe (74) and a rotatably mounted roller (72). As the coil (36) is inserted, the shoe (74) pushes the coil into contact with the roller (72). As the roller (72) rotates, the coil (36) is guided through a series of slots (86) which cause the coil to spiral into the holes in the stack of paper. The punch (12) includes a ramp (186) that presses a series of punch pins (188) through the stack of papers. The ramp (186) includes a plurality of steps (222) that incline upwarldy on either side of a center step (224). The punch first punches holes in the center of the stack of papers and then punches holes outward from either side of the center. The apparatus includes indicators (38) that provide an operator with an indication of appropriate size of spiral coil to use, and an indication of when a wastebasket (52) holding the wastepaper requires emptying.

摘要： A binding apparatus for binding pads of perforated sheets with wire binding elements is described. The apparatus has means for supplying a predetermined length of binding element to an insertion station, means for conveying a perforated pad having the binding element inserted through the perforations to a binding station and a binding device at the binding station for closing the binding element to bind the pad. The insertion station includes upper and lower vertically spaced retainer members and a front stop for holding the binding element in a horizontal orientation with the mouth facing upwards. The binding element is supported at the binding station in the same orientation by two horizontally spaced, vertically extending plates with the pad handing down between the plates. Two closing members are provided, one comprising a drive member and a pressure member which is replaceable with other differently sized pressure members to accommodate differently sized binding elements.
